Congrats Jimmy. This will be a thread I reference A LOT in the future. I hope you're able to continue to scale and maintain your awesome ROI ๐Ÿ‘

Thanks @Luke and thanks to everyone who's liking and commenting. I'm really happy this FA has worked out so well and hope it helps as many people as possible.

For everyone who's still new (like me), don't be afraid of testing more things, because then you'll have results to analyse and opportunities to apply what you learn. I've made heaps of mistakes, but I didn't know what I was doing was a mistake until I did it and then analysed what I did. I think that's really the only way to learn this game (or at least generate those 'lightbulb' moments that result in real progress).

Just stick with it everyone!

Yep, good luck with getting to four-figure days, if you're not already there! ๐Ÿค‘

Have you been able to maintain $xxx/day? :D

Have you been able to maintain $xxx/day? :D

No. It didn't last long. It dropped back to $75/day for a while and has been around $50/day recently. I have played with things a bit because this campaign is still primarily about learning for me and that would have upset the numbers a bit, but it's still easy money seeing I just have to top up my budgets and that's all the "work" involved. I'm also using a portion of the traffic for a test that I think I'll post the results here on the forum in a little while because I think it's going to be interesting.

I just replied to a different thread with some updated numbers from this campaign, which I'm still running pretty much hands off exactly as taught in the Pops Guide.

While I've got the stats in front of me I thought I'd also post them here just so people can see that the work I did initially to set this up is still paying a nice little daily dividend. I've done virtually no work on this campaign since the end of November, at least not on the profitable campaigns where I've shown the stats below. The only other things I've been doing is testing other traffic sources to see how they'd go. I've tested PropellerAds pops, ZeroPark pops, Evadav pops, PopCash pops, AdCash pops and RichPops pops and I was struggling to make most of these worthwhile so I ended up dropping everything except RichPops before I ended spending too much on testing (at least for my liking).

Anyway, here's the month-month:

@jimmyvanilla wow, seems like your work did really pay off! Well done! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I followed your example & Luke's guide with smartlink experiments and even got into some green zone with particular publishers as well (with much lower volumes though)

As my Popads account doesn't allow me promoting tier1 geos, I focused totally on tier3 ones. The problem is that I can see it seems impossible to scale further from where I am now with these geos ๐Ÿ™

So, I suppose you rely on tier1 geos more actively? Or is it still combined approach towards mixing tier1/tier2/tier3 and I'm still missing out something? ๐Ÿค” Thanks for sharing!

My campaigns have a bit of a mix but it's mostly T1 & T2. I struggle to make much from T3 because the payouts are so low.

Nice, that's exactly what I observed as well ๐Ÿ‘

Also I was wondering whether are there any similar smartlinks besides Mobipium that could be used in the same way, tested, and maybe get more opportunities.
I tried Monetizer but realised that it requires more attention, but definitely has opportunities and I'll get back to it later
Also tried running spicyoffers and mobidea smartlink with a very small amounts, got a few leads but not found anything potential to start right now yet (maybe because they mostly have tier2/tier1 as my ams said to me, so definitely should be tested more)

Although many networks have smartlinks, but as I noticed, most of attention gets to just a few like mobipium/monetizer

What do you think about this? Did you try more ways to monetize this traffic besides Mobipium/Monetizer and besides your cpi follow along?
Thanks

So a quick update about this:

I've been really busy with a couple of other things since I stopped updating this FA, so I haven't put a lot of time into looking into this, but since @Max9Ads has suggested exactly what I was testing, here's a quick look at some results I got from using auto-optimizing rotators to distribute my highly optimized traffic to a few other smartlinks:
  • Mobipium Mainstream SL
  • Mobipium Adult SL
  • Mobidea Mainstream SL
  • Mobidea Adult SL
  • Monetizer vAuto SL
Which looked like this:

And the results were interesting - the PNSL continued to work well for mainstream and adult traffic (as expected) and for the adult traffic the Mobipium and Mobidea Adult SLs were both profitable, but ultimately the Monetizer vAuto SL smashed it!

And when I just compare the Mobipium PNSL vs the Monetizer vAuto SL, Monetizer was winning nicely on EPV (and this doesn't include rev from the additional push subscribers I collected with this test, which I haven't been watching, but I'd estimate it could have been paying $2-$5/day for over 30 days)!!

...so, everyone running Monetizer FAs this month... ๐ŸคŸ  (y)

Great post. By far one of the most informative FA's I've seen.

Honestly this has to be one of the best FA's I've come across.

Super FA I haven not come acrossed in years!!

I just want to put this here hopefully to be the lightbulb moment after reading this post twice.

If I am wrong, plssss do correct me!! ๐Ÿ˜…

What I understand so far..

Initial test result - the performing mobipium LPs have told us the network has more of the type of audience that would react to the LPs (i.e. Video streaming LP works for audience that are interested in watching something at that moment, and the mobipium backend rotates in relevant offers that fit this type of audience)

As for the cutting of traffic:-

Sources - most zones in these sources does not carry the type of audience that like to watch video at that moment

Targets - zones that are not having the audience that want to watch video now

Countries - no suitable offers in these countries at the moment for audience that want to watch videos now

As the campaign runs longer, more zones are identified and traffic increases... (I. E. I want to find people that want to watch porn now.. I will need to Google and listed down every sites I can find that has porn vids, the more sites I can find the more people in need for porn I can reach)

Few questions if you don't mind? ๐Ÿ˜…

1. How many active campaigns on each network you are maintaining that is contributing to the avg net profit of $30 per day ?
I mean there are so many countries, sources and siteids involved, and each might have potentials to bid up or down to stretch further. How would you tackle this? break them down to pieces and tackle one by one or...?

2. Last update from you shows the monetizer SL is outperforming the rest, that adds another moving part to the whole campaign, if I am wrong monetizer SL takes the best offers based on traffic received on the entire platform, auto optimisation does not happen on individual links, and the offer die off very fast, when the performing offer dies out, it could be another offer that is performing good in the network but might not perform for your optimized traffic, and since there are a bunch of countries, carries and sources involved, how would you structure things on your side to be alert and react to these frequent changes?

Thanks a bunch for your super thread I hope I can achieve like you do too!! ๐Ÿ˜€

I don't know whether people want to watch the actual video being displayed on the LP or whether they just click 'Allow' because people using phones are conditioned to press things when they pop up on their screens. I actually don't think about why they're clicking, I just know they're clicking and that's all that matters.
the mobipium backend rotates in relevant offers that fit this type of audience
Mobipium actually don't show an offer after someone clicks allow. They just get a thank you page. After that I assume the Mobipium in-house media buyers use the push list to promote their own offers.
I want to find people that want to watch porn now.. I will need to Google and listed down every sites I can find that has porn vids, the more sites I can find the more people in need for porn I can reach
You just buy more traffic from traffic networks selling adult traffic. You don't need to find sites and try to get direct buys.

This follow along was only one multi-geo campaign on Popads and one single geo campaign on ZeroPark.
I mean there are so many countries, sources and siteids involved, and each might have potentials to bid up or down to stretch further. How would you tackle this? break them down to pieces and tackle one by one or...?
I've struggled with this question myself and tried everything in the past so I could at least say I've given it a go and know what works and what doesn't. The advantage of having separate campaigns for different geos and even sub-groups of site-ids is that you can target your bid better. The disadvantage is that it's really hard to keep track of everything. At one stage last year I had 40-50 tiny little campaigns active at once on Popads, but that just became insanely unmanageable. Now I try to keep everything in just 1-3 campaigns on each traffic source for each offer I'm promoting.

Monetizer can be a pretty frustrating beast because offers are coming on and off all the time. I like the Mobipium SL because it just churns away consistently, but I've had some success switching to Monetizer offers that are hot and stay on for a few months.

Thanks for your kind reply.

Many times I have lost track of all these micro campaigns while trying to break things down on those potential winning campaigns. Almost always got me ended up into 20-30 micro campaigns that made couple of cents to loosing dollars, once the ROI turns negative it takes very long time for me to go through them to find out what is wrong and bring back to green....

Imagine trying to scale to few more network.... 20 x? =๐Ÿ˜…

I have just paused all my micro campaigns and going to start everything again following your approach.

Also, I am going to use Luke's approach of finding offers to direct target in monetizer, will be creating a couple of them to test....

I just realised I have not been testing single offers in monetizer all this while, just because I see those offers come and go in lightning speed in the smartlinks just made me feel like kind of wasting time and money to test direct offers with them, but will be giving it a try now.

I failed in creating a process that works for me, I am going to keep testing till I find it.

Thank you so much.

supeeeerrrr.
I think ZP pop is worse, maybe I 'll change my follow along to ZP domain. How do you think @jimmyvanilla ?
