Optimized Results

So, I have great news. The second round of testing went well. It took quite a bit longer to spend our budget since we had removed so many countries, but the results got better and better:

That’s right, the campaign was even PROFITABLE during the last hour it was running. In fact, if we do a drilldown report for the last hour (16:00 - 16:59), we’ll find that 3 of the 4 offers we are running were profitable:

The Push_Smart_4 offer might need paused on the next round of testing if we were to do some optimizations.

It seems with this campaign, we should focus on South Korea. Here is the country drilldown report for that same hour:

South Korea is a green segment of this campaign. You will have a lot of red. Red can be discouraging. It means you are losing money. However, to find the green, you need to know there will be some red.

I will continue optimizing this campaign to see if I can make back the money I spent testing and I will update this guide, but for what I had hoped to accomplish with this guide, we have reached the end.

However, I want to show you real quick what I will be doing to try to make back the $10 I’ve spent on this campaign so I am profitable. You can try duplicating this yourself with your campaign.

I’m going to do a drilldown report on BeMob for the green segments of this campaign to find the:
  • Country
  • Offer
  • WebsiteIDs
With these 3 things, I should be able to create a profitable very segmented/optimized campaign that will be green.

Here’s the report:

This is a list of the WebsiteIDs from South Korea for Push_Smart_3 that were profitable. In total, their ROI ~100%.

Now, there is not a ton of traffic here, but there does seem to be a lot of potential. With these 5 websites and continued results based on what I have seen, I should make back the $10 within a few days of just letting them run and I may be able to scale by increasing my bid a bit. At some point I may want to day part the campaign.

The opportunities, even on a small campaign like this, are endless really.

: Step 13 - The END, but really the BEGINNING?

How do we optimize our campaign for only the profitable websites in our results?
You can make it so your campaign is only targeting a select group of WebsiteIDs by going to the edit campaign page and then clicking on Website Targeting and Include Websites:

You would then copy/paste in the WebsiteIDs you want to target (one per line). Click Save Changes and now your campaign will only get traffic from those specific websites 👍

Thanks Luke, this is very interesting and valuable set of articles. Some concepts open up in new light. Thank you!

Thank you luke!

My other question is if 3 Countries were profitable do I target those 3 instead of only one?

Also Luke all smart links from 1-4 were profitable. Do I focus on the most profitable one for the next optimized campaign or do I keep them all running?

I would likely recommend breaking down your campaign into GEOs (so each GEO is it's own campaign) and then test the offers that are performing best in each individual GEO.

How exactly do I go about breaking down my campaign into GEOs? If it'd be possible for you to explain a bit farther

You do exactly what you did here:

But, when you get to the step where you select the Countries for your campaign, instead of choosing all, you select a specific country.

So I should make 4 different campaigns for Popads in total?

I often prefer to run a single geo per campaign. But sometimes doing that tends to lower your traffic so much to the point you don’t get any at all (in terms of conversions). I guess you just have to test to figure out what works best.

Well in your own words how would you define Geo? What is it in essence? Is it like countries and website ID's or?

When you're not getting enough traffic do you increase the bid?
