How to setup and test Optee on your local PC or Mac
Got a few questions on how you can first install and test Optee on your local PC, so decided to write a short guide for it.In this guide, we’ll use Local WP.
Local WP is a free desktop app that runs WordPress on your computer with zero configuration - no server setup, no database config, just click and go.
Once you download and install Local WP (it only takes a few minutes), you’ll see a screen like this one:
Click on the + Create a new site button.
Select the first option.
Give you site a name:
And just use Preferred settings:
Then pick a username and a password (write it down, you’ll need it soon!):
And click the Add Site button.
Once you site is ready, right click on the site name and select Start:
Once you see it’s running, click on the Open Site button:
And finish the setup:
Once you finish the setup, open the WP Admin:
And then go to Plugins > Add Plugin:
Select Upload Plugin, choose the .zip from your local computer and click on the Install Now button.
Once this is done, click on the Activate Plugin button:
And from there, it’s pretty easy:
Just finish the Optee installation with this setup wizard.
Keep in mind this is for local testing only - you can’t set up a Cron Job on localhost.

How to setup Optee on a $5/Yr hosting
Got a few questions on what kind of server you need to run Optee plugin on WordPress, so went to check if there are any cheap shared options for you.And I’ve found a Standard Plan for just $5/Year with Direct Admin included (similar to cPanel) included on HostKoala.
So, let’s test that!
Pick your location from this page, and you’ll be redirected to a cart page like this one:
If you have a domain ready, enter it under the “Configurable Options” section. You can also use a subdomain here.
You can pay with credit card or PayPal.
Your account should be ready within a few minutes:
You’ll also receive your account details via email.
Check you email and look for these Control Panel details, something like this:
Secure Control Panel: https://xxxxxxxxxx.dapanel.net:2222
DirectAdmin and FTP Username: yourusername
Direct Admin and FTP Password: yourpassword
Open the Secure Control Panel and login to the Control Panel. Once inside, select Softaculous and click on the WordPress icon.
This will open a simple wizard where you can install WordPress in just a few clicks!
Click on Install Now.
And then make sure you select https://, the domain and assign an admin user:
Don’t click on the Quick Install button. Scroll down and…
Make sure you uncheck all these plugins.
And then click on the Install button:
Wait a few minutes…
And you WordPress is ready:
Click on the Administrative URL.
Select Plugins > Add New.
And then upload the .zip file and click on the Install Now button.
You’ll see something like this:
Click on the Activate Plugin button.
The wizard will guide your from there:
Everything looks good here:
You might want to align your timezones in this step:
HostKoala account comes with Direct Admin control panel, so choose that:
You’ll need to paste your DirectAdmin URL here, and click on the Open button.
Once in Create Cron Job form, leave “*” under Minute, Hour, Day of Month, Month and Day of Week field.
Just COPY the “wget” part form the wizard here:
And click on the CREATE button.
Go back to wizard, and click on the I’ve Added it - Verify button:
And then wait a few seconds:
And you should see a success message:
The last step is the Email verification:
But that sometimes doesn’t work on cheap shared hosting accounts - so you can skip this for now.
And you are ready!
You can start installing traffic sources, trackers, etc.

The zone IDs from Adcash’s API don’t match the zone IDs from the tracker APIs. Hopefully, Dood and Adcash can sort this out. Thank you!So cool to see Optee already making some waves here!

It seems to me that in your Skro tracker you have Sources configured as Zones, and that is why you are seeing this.
Zones in Adcash look like:
10964428
11026856
9971932
While Sources in Adcash look like this:
10964428-1560383409-4269441498
11026856-1560383409-4269441498
9971932-1560383409-4269441498
Which means the Optee is working correctly when it comes to Adcash integration.
Now, I was checking the Adcash URL macros on this page:
Campaign URL Macros
There are the macros that are available to be placed into any part of your campaign URL. When Adcash directs visitors to your campaign’s landing page, macros in the URL link will be replaced with their real value.

And noticed one thing:
Which is kinda wierd! So, Adcash uses [zone] to store SOURCE value in URL (and pass it to tracker), while for passing ZONE info they use [mzone]!
No wonder we have some confusion here!
Next thing I did is I went to check how tracker like BeMob and Skro handle these under traffic source settings.
In BeMob, it looks like this:
Which means they are using [zone] macro and call id Zone ID - which is wrong! [zone] macro refers to SOURCE ID , according to Adcash documentation.
And if I take a look at Custom 1 report in my BeMob for a test campaign I did:
I can see SOURCES under Custom 1 - not Zone ID!
Let's take a look at Skro now:
Same! They use [zone] token to receive data under Custom 4 parameter, but [zone] token actually passes SOURCE data, not ZONE ID data!
So, while my integration of Adcash in Optee was correct (it actually loads data from Zones, and not SOURCES) it was the trackers that implemented this in a wrong way - storing SOURCES under ZONE ID!
That's why your data is messed! You just used the templates they prepared for all of us, and which are wrong!
Another funny thing - you won't see [mzone] macro in neither BeMob or Skro - so by default, they don't collect ZONE ID data in reports! Just SOURCES data.
Having done my research, I think I will just add an additional option in Adcash configuration where you'll be able to choose if you wish your Adcash reports show Sources or Zone ID data so at least my implementation is compatible with both! (who knows, maybe one day trackers fix this!)
