I’m running sweepstakes campaigns on Facebook Ads, primarily targeting Android devices (usually versions 8/9+). I’m using Voluum as my tracker and manually updating the costs daily based on the Facebook Ads dashboard data.
Here’s the problem: despite targeting Android only, I’m seeing traffic from desktop devices (e.g., Linux) in my Voluum reports. What’s puzzling is that this desktop traffic is coming from countries I’m not even targeting, like the US, Ireland, and Sweden. I suspect it’s bots checking my campaigns for compliance.
For info, I target leads, and do manual customisation and let the audience to be as broad as possible and have a few low volume green campaigns.
I reached out to Meta support, and they assured me that I’m not being charged for desktop traffic—everything on their end shows Android traffic only, and I’ve double-checked this. On the other hand, Voluum says they just track clicks and are placing the blame on Meta.
