I have been attending conferences for many years now, mostly in the IT sector for work but in recent years I have started to attend affiliate-based ones as well. Initially my draw towards them was a cheeky day off work and an excuse to go drinking err mean network with like mined colleagues. So, when the email dropped in my inbox about this year's iGB Affiliate London conference I immediately signed up.
I also decided I wanted to get more from this conference than a few pens and an excuse to have a beer so thought I would post about it on affLIFT to see who else was thinking of attending, at least that way I could try meet up with them and put faces to names. If you have not read that post you can here, there are a few nice pics in there
The conference was held at ExCeL London, an exhibition and international convention centre in East London, which was super handy for me seeing as it is only about a 15 min walk from my house, so there was absolutely no excuse not to attend.
On the first day I decided I would not go too early as I wanted to meet up with the affLIFT members who were attending and as I had no game plan thought let them do their thing then can meet just after lunch. Upon arriving I was immediately struck by the sear number of people there, maybe the pandemic had altered my expectation over the last couple years, but I could not get over the fact I had not seen this many people in one place for many many years!
I did intend to get some nice pictures of the event but I got distracted way to easily and only have a couple, this image really does not give you the true feeling of how big and busy the place was.
As you entered there was a DJ and a few stands issuing badges, a large registration, and loads of people milling about chatting and playing with their mobile phones, so I headed over to grabbed my badge and a funny looking ribbon thing which I found out later was a wristband, like the ones you get at a concert or theme park. Now I was kitted out I started to explore and chat to some of the vendors, asking them about their platforms and whether they had heard of affLIFT, if not why not and telling them they should join ASAP.
I was kind of enjoying myself but I couldn’t shake the feeling that I felt a bit of an outsider, like journeying to a new world where everyone went about their business and you just wandered about being ignored, so it was time to start messaging the affLIFT chaps and try to meet up with them.
It wasn't long before they spotted me (I was wearing my super trendy affLIFT hoody, if you haven't got your yet check out https://swag.afflift.com/) and we started to venture round the conference as a group. This, I must say helped me feel must more at ease and after meeting up with the guys enjoyed the event so much more. No longer did I feel like an outsider looking in but now I was a player in this game and discussing ideas, gaining new contacts, and grabbing as much free stuff as possible
Here I am with @Anth @JonathanB and @Varun at the Chilli Partners stand for a quick refreshment break, we sat here for a while discussing ideas, the conference and generally just getting to know each other.
In fact this was one of our fav spots over the 2 days as they had a bar, a pretty good DJ, and was nicely out the way so you could just chill (no pun intended), chat and enjoy a free beverage or 4.
They also had the hottest drink I think I have ever had, not exactly sure what it was called or what was in it, Vodka and definitely some chilli peppers, damn it was spicy. I think only myself and @Varun managed to actually drink a whole one but it took a while!
I did manage to meet up with a few affLIFT partners as well while I was walking around, like Vortex Alpha, they had a stand there and were greeting attendees trying to sell their wares, so I stopped and had a quick chat with Charles.
One of the constantans of the conference was the mighty Sergey from KeyAffiliates, we must have bumped into him dozens of times throughout the conference but he would always stop for a chat and let us know of anything good we should check out. He is a really nice fella and defiantly worth chatting to if you want to start promoting Casino/Gambling offers, just tell him I sent you or just click my link https://keyaff.com/l/?id=245998
He also had a particular clever technique for collecting the tickets in the vortex wind machine thing, some company (can't remember the name) were giving away 1 ETH if you collected to most tickets in the day, think he held the record at 72 for most of the day and was beaten if I’m not mistaken by Charles from Vortex which is actually quite fitting when you think about it lol
Here is @Anth giving it a shot, however neither of us came nowhere near Sergey’s amazing 72, in fact we added both our tickets together we would have still been about 10 short!!
We also managed to bump into the Voluum guys outside the venue and stopped to have a chat with Marcin until he was dragged away, no doubt late for some drinks.
There was just so much to see and do there, so much that it was hard to take it all in but things like robot card dealers

And so much more that I just couldn't have taken pictures of it all, but that was not the only part of the whole experience there was the After Party on the first day and the closing drinks on the last day.
We decided to go along to the after party despite it starting quite late at 2230 and we had finished up on the first day at about 1800 so we had a few hours to go unwind and relax. @Anth, Amy and @JonathanB were staying in a hotel close to me so I picked them up in a cab on the way and we arrived together. After a little entertaining chat with a local (black don't crack!!) we entered the party, which looked so much different inside than you would have expected from the outside.
Then you walk inside and you're transferred into a whole new dimension...
They had a live band on who were pretty decent, and the free beer was flowing, well except for @Varun that is

Only thing I would say is that it was hard to network at this networking event as you couldn’t talk as the music was so loud, but that didn’t stop us trying and having a thoroughly good time, admittedly fuelled by plenty of beer.
At one point they had waiters wandering around with trays of burgers so we grabbed one only to be disappointed that it was actually some kind of vegan thing, so it just sat on the table for a while.
Well until I couldn't take the smell any more and moved it to another nearby table
There was also a photographer set up there he had one of those 360 camera stands, so of course we had to get in on some of that too.
I think I could probably babble on about what we did for a lot longer but you get the idea. It was a fun few days and I can honestly say I learned a ton of new information, in fact I have started setting up my own Casino/Email setup now thanks to the guys convincing me I should. Not too mention meeting some top blokes (and lass) and gaining some awesome new friends whom I hope to see next month in NYC for a quick beer.......
I just wanted to share my experience with you all and just say if you get the chance to go to an affiliate conference then go. As if my experience is anything to go by then you will learn loads, get lots of new contacts, blag tons free swag, have a fantastic time, meet some new friends and maybe even win some Apple AirPod's, oh did I forget to mention that
Yes I won a pair of Applie AirPod's at the conference
Here’s my full swag pic, pretty much all this will be going to my kids well apart from the AirPods of course daddy needs something.
I am sure @Anth, @JonathanB, and @Varun had a great time too and have their own stories they could tell you, hopefully nothing too bad about me haha
Until next time gang
