I see a lot of information saying mobile "pop" ads are the way to go for paid traffic beginners now, is that really the case, or is there something better?

I've read information saying that with mobile pop you shouldn't use a landing page and should just direct-link to maximize conversions, is that really the case?

Also, how is spying done on mobile pop ads, is there a way to find the sites where the pops are going to show?
