Mass email huge list for a company

I've just been approached about helping a bricks and mortar company email their huge contact list (1+ million) with an email and attachment about their products, my inital thoughts were this is too much grief but then thought it might work if they break it up into chunks and spread it over a couple of weeks?

Has anyone got any suggestions on services that could handle that kind of volume without costing the same as launching a probe to the sun?

I guess could set up something using Amazon SES but not sure on the volume or cost to be fair!

Any pointers would be appreciated.
