Recently, I was given the opportunity by Monetag to test their updated smartlink against any competitor of my choice. I decided to compare it with Adsterra's smartlink. And I’m sharing the results of that mini test here.

Let me share the results first and then I will break it down my methodology for this test.

Choosing the Traffic Source

Finding the right traffic source was tricky. Since I couldn't use PropellerAds or Adsterra’s own traffic, I had to test a few alternatives.

After running small test campaigns on an another network, I chose Galaksion as the traffic source. Why? Because Monetag accepts only mainstream traffic, and Galaksion is well-suited for that.

The Test Setup

After experimenting with different campaign flows and landing pages — and wasting some budget due to early mistakes — I finalized a simple yet effective traffic flow:

• Two same landing pages with engaging buttons.
• Traffic split 50/50 between two landing pages. Each landing page dedicated to Monetag smartlink and Adsterra smartlink separately.
• Backunder script used to generate additional impressions
• All buttons and backunder links directed
