Lovable - create and host complete projects without coding

I recently reactivated my Twitter/X account to see if the most recent algorithm update made me want to use it again and it was a big improvement. Now, my feed is filled with things I'm actually interested in and one of them, obviously, is AI

Well, an AI project that people on X can't seem to stop talking about is Lovable.

It's a dumb name, but when I finally decided to check it out I can see what all the hype is about...

With my 3 free daily credits just for signing up and just a few messages to the AI (literally like...3?) I was able to have it build a basic offer search template and backend.

Lovable will setup databases, add AI functionality, host, and basically do everything you need to create a website through simply text commands.
It's actually pretty insane.

As a free user, you get 3 credits a day to work with. The amount of work you can do with 3 credits depends on what you are asking it to do. More complicated tasks require more credits. I went through my 3 credits pretty quickly, but I was also able to get a lot done.

I was just using an offer search as a basic example because it's the first thing that popped in my head to try this out, but I could likely use this to put together something like affplus pretty easily

Lovable actually creates the backend, hosts it, has Stripe integration for collecting payments, etc. Cursor is basically the IDE + AI developer.

I would say Lovable is easier for a non-developer to use than Cursor. As far as which is actually better, I guess you would need to try out them both to see which is better for your use case.

Coding definitely seems like something AI can do well. I know some professional developers and they don't seem overly concerned about their jobs yet. It does seem likely they use more and more AI for assistance though.

I prefer v0 Vercel personally. Lovable is great, but for me personally v0 Vercel worked better on more complex things.

Interesting share. I've recently been playing around with Google AI Studio, which also allows you to make apps from text prompts. I haven't pushed it to the limit though, so I'm not sure how my prompts you get per day (although ChatGPT claims 25 for the free plan). Also not sure if it does all the other stuff you mentioned about that Loveable does. Worth checking out though .

I prefer v0 Vercel personally. Lovable is great, but for me personally v0 Vercel worked better on more complex things.

I don't think you could get away with using Lovable to create your own tracker (it would use a lot of resources and I assume there's some sort of cap) but I could see using this along with the APIs available for most of the popular traffic sources to build your own tracker optimizer based off their data.

Maybe we'll have to do a contest to see who can come up with the most unique affiliate related projects lol. I'm fascinated by this and based on the replies here I'm a little behind you all

Have used Lovable a bit -- it got a lot of hype as it is also the fastest ever SaaS to hit $100M ARR -- in 8 months!

It's trained for visuals so is fantastic for creating beautiful app UIs, sites, etc. Have already used it for that.

But I don't think it's ideal for making complex apps. I would use it to make a NextJS framework then take that away and develop it separately -- in a proper IDE.

I also found that the majority of it's best coding was the initial "one shot" app creation. Iterating afterward to improve things felt a little tedious and it often missed the mark.

I see they released Lovable Cloud so maybe this will change over time but I would treat it mainly as the AI platform that's good at mocking up polished UIs and interfaces --> go build the meat and bones somewhere else.

Yeah, I am using Lovable Cloud and I really like how it is basically all-in-one.

I am considering rebuilding our Peak Awards site using Lovable. It could use an upgrade and it would be a fun follow along. Plus, I'll likely relaunch Peak Awards at the beginning of December so this would give us plenty of time to kind of build it as a community before we likely have our biggest one ever (again)

Yeah, I've been wanting to play around with Claude Code more. I've watched a lot of videos of people using it and it's pretty impressive.

That'd be fun. I'm interested in that. In my recent campaigns I realized the importance of using API to get more insights. I was looking to build my own tool for that.
