Facebook announces that it is launching subscriptions in Europe for an ad-free Facebook at a cost of 13€/month.
Personally, I think the adoption of the subscription will be irrelevant and very few will take this step. The average revenue per user from ads for Facebook per quarter is approximately $20 in Europe. If someone chooses to remove the ads on Facebook and Instagram (which are paid for separately), it comes to 22€ per month. Good deal for FB, but a poor deal for the user.
People are already comparing the idea to Youtube Premium, and while there was adoption there, the YT ads are very aggressive and annoying, whereas the ones on FB are easy to ignore and people have gotten used to them.
Personally, I think not even 1% of EU users will opt for this.
