Alright, before I get into the details of this follow along, I should start by telling you why I decided to start this new side project. In the early 2000s, when I was around 12 or 13 years old, I was very into browser based games.
Our internet at my house was not great and game development wasn't what it is today. Browser based games were very popular and I was addicted to the computer so I started playing all the ones I could find. A friend of mine was developing his own virtual pet game so of course I jumped right into that and it quickly became one of my favorite games.
Now, fast forward 25 years and I have kids of my own that are a little younger than I when I first started playing these games. They have a ton of options for games to play, but there aren't any good virtual pets games that I could find!
So, I'm building one. And, with their help, I think we can make something pretty cool!
