I already know my answer to this but wanted to throw it out there for discussion.
Direct link or Landing Page?
Some sources, like AdWords and Push, I'd say make landing page.
For other traffic, I'd assume the network I'm working with (big assumption I know) should have the best performing landing pages in their offers. After all, they're crunching masses more data than I am so their stats should be pretty solid.
Other variables will come into play of course. Responsive, mobile only, localization, etc.
My answer:
I always split test between merchant provided and my own landing pages. What I like is pretty irrelevant. What converts is the winner.
